FAQs
Our goal is to guide you to the smartest investment for you. The best way to do that is by asking us questions.
Have a question that isn’t on this list? Reach out now! We would love to talk to you.
Is becoming a passive investor the best option for my financial goals?
First, we recommend you look at the following statements below first:
I want to invest in apartments but I’m really busy with my full-time job and other activities.
I want the benefits of owning an apartment complex but I don’t have the knowledge or capital to purchase one myself.
I’d prefer to place my investment money in the hands of someone I trust and have them make the business decisions when acquiring and managing a multifamily property.
If you agree with all the statements, passively investing with Thomson Multifamily Group aligns with your investment goals.
If you disagree with any of the statements you may want to discuss in further detail with Sean why these statements aren’t what you are looking for in an investment venture.
Are there any ramifications to my personal taxes?
Typically there are significant tax advantages when investing in real estate. However, we are not licensed accountants and recommend you consult with your CPA on the details of how this investment with impact your financials.
Does Smart Investing Work with sophisticated investors?
Yes, if you qualify as a sophisticated investor you will be able to participate in the Smart Investing opportunities.
Is there a minimum investment amount?
This changes depending on the investment. Typically we look for $50,000 or more for investment commitments.
Am I able to invest through my entity?
Yes, as long as you (and any other members) meet the SEC’s requirement for investing with Smart Investing.
Am I able to invest with my IRA or 401k?
Yes, you are able to invest with a self-directed IRA (SDIRA). The option to transfer your current IRA or previous 401k into an SDIRA for real estate investment opportunities is also available. For more information, we recommend you consult with your CPA and IRA custodian to ensure this is the best option for you.
